January Update

We are back in the city until #2's arrival. It is nice to be home and back into our routine, although we really enjoyed all our time spent with family and friends over the last month.

Bailey made the transition better than I expected. I thought we would have a few more tears about not being able to play with the cousins and grandparents but so far she is handling things well and likes playing with all her new toys. She did get mad at me for boxing up alot of her old toys but she's already forgotten about that :) Bailey is doing very well with the beginning stages of potty training. I keep saying we are going to just do it but I am putting it off for some reason, I guess I don't have the energy right now. She does have a dry diaper most of the day though and goes on her potty fairly well so one of these days we will transition to big girl underwear when I feel up to more laundry ;) We did have a #2 in the potty at the farm, this girl will do anything for a present!

Jarod is done interviewing for residencies. We (I) am thankful that is over with! I'm glad that he chose programs in the midwest, I can't imagine travelling all over the country right now. He will be sending in his rank list shortly and then in mid March we will find out where he matches and where we will be moving! He has a few more days off before he begins a new rotation so we are really enjoying having him around the house and getting some boxes packed up to get the house in decent shape. How do we accumulate so much stuff?

Baby #2 is due in less than 3 weeks. I am getting to the point where I don't have too much energy left by the end of the day but I'm not in any rush for her to be here yet. We have a lot to do before then! We are enjoying our time with it just being the three of us, Bailey got to go to her first movie theater last week and we watched Beauty and the Beast in 3D. I think she enjoyed it and she continues to talk about watching Belle on the BIG tv.

Bailey got extremely spoiled by everyone at Christmas! She learned very quickly how to tear into gifts.

We decided to celebrate Christmas early this year (daddy, Bailey and I) since we will be around lots of family and didn't want to have to try to fit our family Christmas in.

On Friday night we opened our stockings, which consisted of Christmas jammies and B got a microphone toy.

Then on Saturday morning Bailey got to open her presents. The presents were under the tree for several days and she only managed to get her hands on one of them. I thought for sure I would be rewrapping several but she is a very good listener.

Poor little girl came down with the stomach flu again. Apparently it likes us over the holiday season. I can say that I don't mind her being a little snuggle bug the last couple days. Thankfully Bailey will be recovered before Christmas and get to enjoy time with her cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents.

Sprinkles

We've had a busy week trying to get everything finished up before the holidays so I don't have to deal with all the crazy people next week. :) Bailey was getting really tired of running errands every morning so on this day I told her that we would stop and get her a donut if she was a good girl. She asked "one with sprinkles?" I told her if she was good she could pick out any kind she wanted. Wouldn't you know it, the girl didn't fight me one bit! She was a perfect little angel and was so excited when we got home so she could eat all the sprinkles! Of course then I had a girl with a sugar high but it was worth it.

Bailey got to play in the snow for the first time this winter. She loved it! We have only had a dusting of snow here in the city so it was a nice surprise when we were back for a visit to the farm and woke up with snow on the ground. Grandma pulled Bailey around on the sled. Bailey and I are both ready for more snow :)

Bailey also got to watch Frosty the snowman for the first time and she really liked it. She found Uncle Logan's musical frosty and now sings along with it. Pretty cute little girl we have!

A little Christmas

We decided to put decorations on our Christmas tree this weekend. Bailey keeps calling the ornaments marbles...?? Oh well. As you can image the lower half of our tree gets redecorated a couple times a day. It keeps her entertained so I can't complain with that.

We drove around the city this weekend and looked at Christmas lights. There is a website that has large light displays on a map so you can hit all the main attractions. Bailey does not like riding in the car (that is an understatement) so we convinced her if she got in and didn't scream that we would get ice cream. There are some really neat displays. I think we only hit 2 of the big ones but one was 10 minutes long. They had to set it up behind the city hall since traffic has been such a problem during the holiday season the past few years. Bailey did enjoy the lights and all my ice cream.

Weekend fun

The weather has been gorgeous the last couple weekends so we have spent quite a bit of time outdoors. Bailey likes playing in the backyard and taking Harley on walks, which always makes for an interesting time. We don't take the stroller anymore so Harley has to walk the entire way and B is now the one asking for rides. :)

Our community center has an indoor preschool playground that they open two mornings a week for a couple hours during the cold months. It is so nice to have a change of scenery and Bailey loves to go to the 'gym'. They have cars to ride in, toys to push, a play kitchen, and two bouncy houses! The bouncy house is B's new favorite thing. Of course she enjoys climbing in and out as much as she does jumping but I can't complain because she does nap better after she bounces out all her energy.

Mommy sneezed upstairs, Bailey and Daddy were downstairs. Bailey yells "Bless you mommy"

We are playing and B does something silly so I say, Bailey you are a dork. "NO, daddy is a dork" and she starts laughing at herself.

At bedtime, B is all snuggled in with Big Belle (her Belle doll). Daddy says " I love you Bailey. You are our little Princess."

After a few seconds she looks at daddy and matter of factly says "Big Belle is a princess too."

We made a trip to Sam's club and found a deal for some cute new PJ's for Bailey. She even got to pick out which ones she wanted. We then ran a few more errands and as we pulled into the garage Bailey starts saying, "I want my kitty cat jammies" This girl has a unbelievable memory! So we let her out of her car seat, threw her jammies inside and told her to play while we unloaded the car. Before we got everything unloaded and looked inside Bailey was already stripped down to her diaper and trying to get her jammies on herself. Little stinker!

I can't believe October is over already! We kept busy this month and the last couple weeks went by extremely fast. We spent some time outside painting pumpkins and doing crafts.

This last weekend we went back to visit family and go to the Kstate game. It wasn't much of a game but we enjoyed the company :)

B still loves to swing. One of the first things she asks to do when we get to the farm.

Uncle Logan is in the middle of moving to Nebraska, he's out of Mississippi now, YAY! While he was home Grandma and Grandpa S. had a weenie roast. It was a fun time with lots of friends and family.

We have a couple neighbors that are awesome! Not only do they spoil B but they keep an eye on our house and even mow our grass while we have been in and out of town the past few months. Barb gave Bailey m&m's, a juice box and a little purse...B was thrilled! She acts so shy around her but yet she always wants to say hi and play when we are outside. Silly girl!

Bailey LOVES the movie Rio right now. Overall it is a good movie and even though I have listened to it 1,000 times in the car I enjoy it as well. The music is very catchy and B likes to dance to it. The videos aren't great but I wanted to remember her doing this forever. I'm sure she will love it when she is a teenager!

We have a pet store near our house that Bailey LOVES to visit. They have a dog day care and so there is certain times where you can go watch them play. This is our place to go when we need to get out of the house and the park isn't an option that day. She got so tickled at a dog that kept jumping at her through the glass. I'm not sure if it was playing or not but the entire time we were there it was doing this. She kept saying 'come back dog' because she wanted it to jump again.

Tahoe!!!

Heads up: probably boring for most of you but I wanted to document :)

My good friend Sara got married at a resort just miles from Lake Tahoe the last week in August. Two words: Absolutely breathtaking! Everything from the view to the wedding to the bride was gorgeous! I was so happy to be able to spend a few days with her and two more friends. This was the first time I had left Bailey overnight...ever. I know, it's been 2 years but we've never needed to be away that long. Anyways, Bailey did AWESOME!

The first night I was away was Wednesday, I called my mom (she stayed with grandma and papa that night) and things were going so well that she didn't care to talk to me. I couldn't believe it! So the next day we decided to Skype and Bailey chatted a little but decided she would rather run off and play. I was so happy! It was nice to have fun and not worry about her missing me. Jarod's mom then picked her up on Thursday and Jarod got to his parents late that evening. I kept getting texts thursday and friday saying she was doing great or pictures of her happy as could be! She had a blast out on the farm and I think Bailey did a good job of wearing her grandparents out! She had so much fun and told me many stories when I got back. Thanks to our wonderful parents for taking such good care of our little girl. I think she would rather spend most of her time there than in the city! But who can blame her when there is cousins, tractors, kittens and so much more!

As for my trip. Mandy and I met early Wednesday morning and flew out of KCI. We met up with Robyn in Denver and then flew to Sacramento where Sara picked us up.

We made it to Sacramento! Yay!

We then went to Sara's house and helped her load up her car with all the goodies to take to the mountains. It was fun to see her house and get a little break from the travelling. Then we headed to Tahoe which is just 1 1/2 hours from her house! We unpacked and checked out our condo then headed out to eat with the groom and some of Sara's other family and friends.

Thursday we relaxed in the morning and walked around some of the shops in the village area. In the afternoon we were supposed to run to Reno to grab a rental car so we could get to the airport for our early flights on Saturday. Of course things got a little tight on time and we instead made a trip across the California/Nevada line to just turn around and head back to the resort. Someone else picked up the rental car for us and we added a little wedding drama, but it all turned out alright in the end :) Mandy and I had a blast with Sara's mom Lise!

We got back from our little 'road trip' just in time for the rehearsal. After rehearsal we headed down to Lake Tahoe for dinner. We were overlooking the lake as we ate supper, such a neat atmosphere!

Friday was the big day for Sara and Gavin! We woke up relatively early, got some Starbucks and took a walk around the resort. Then it was time to get ready. Sara had a couple ladies come in to do our hair and makeup. They did an amazing job!

Sara and Gavin got married outside and then had a large tent set up for dinner and the reception. The weather was amazing and everyone had a great time.

The wedding reception ended at 10pm and we helped Sara and Gavin take gifts back to their room. Mandy was pulling a cart full of gifts and cards while I was following behind picking up after her. LOL. Just kidding Sara! I do hope nothing was broke though because that cart was not cooperating with us!

After dropping off gifts we were heading back to our room to meet up with Robyn and get some rest before our 3 am alarm. As we were walking I looked about 120 feet in front of us and noticed this odd creature, figuring I couldn't be right I asked Mandy if that was a bear in front of us or someone dressed in a costume. Yes, it was a bear! I turned around and started running back to the condo since I still had a key to get in the door and figured if I could beat Mandy I'd be good ;) HAHA. Mandy, the bear expert, told me (very nicely) to stop freaking out and it won't bother us. So she convinced me to keep walking and the bear kept going on his merry way! Thanks Mandy you kept me sane there for a little while. Although come to find out she's only been around a bear once, now twice...oh well, she was more of an expert than me!

We made it back to our room safely and crashed for 4 hours until our alarms went off at 3 am and we headed to the airport for our early flights. I'm not sure what we were thinking when we booked them but we were ready to get back home to see our kids!

That was my trip in a nutshell. A quick few days but very fun and full of lots of laughter and chatter about our kids. Sara's wedding was beautiful and I'm so happy that she invited me to share in her wedding day!

You did fantastic at your doctors' appointment. You talked to the doctor and read a book with her. Then it came time for the flu shot. Thankfully you didn't figure it out until we pinned you down and boy you got mad!!! You cried a little and kept telling us 'I don't like that' and 'no more'. Thank goodness you are up to date with your other vaccines! Everything was better after we treated you to a milkshake :)

August 2011

As I mentioned in the last post, August has been a little crazy. It began with Jarod heading out to Salina for a 4 week rotation. After a couple days working he then flew to Houston for an exam and then headed back on the weekend to spend a day with us. That was when we had Bailey's birthday party. After Bailey's party we left for Salina (Jarod, myself and Bailey) for two weeks in an apartment that they graciously provided us with. We really enjoyed our time there. We swam, met new friends, went to the zoo, rode on a train and much more! After two weeks Bailey and I headed back to Sabetha so I could pack up and take a trip with my girlfriends. Jarod stayed in Salina to finish up his last week working. Bailey got to stay with her grandparents and Jarod was able to finish working and spend time with her too while I was away. Finally we are all together and back in our home that now has bags, toys, books and laundry strewn about. I guess there's tomorrow for that :) Here is a few pictures from our time in Salina.

August has been a bit of a crazy month for us but we did manage to have a party for Bailey on her birthday. We decided one day before her birthday to have a party and everything worked out fine. Thanks to Grandma and Michelle for making cupcakes and food for everyone!

We got to spend the entire weekend with daddy and were all worn out by Sunday evening.
Saturday we went to the zoo, found a dairy queen and then decided to road trip for some swimming to a small town south of us since the pool here is so busy. B got to swim and then we had a picnic at a local landmark that was on the top of a bluff. It was a beautiful evening!
Sunday we decided to make a trip to another neighboring town and ride on an old train. We got a little hot but B loved riding the train and we even watched an old-fashion gun fight. I guess that's what we have to call fun in central Kansas, haha! Pictures to come of the train ride when I can hook up to internet. :)

Daddy found a bunny in our backyard one afternoon and kept it until Bailey and I got back so she could see it. She pet it but didn't have enough courage to hold it until they were letting it go. Then she held it as it hopped out of her hand. I kept asking her if she wanted to name it but she only wanted to call it bunny rabbit, so bunny rabbit it is. :)

A couple weekends ago Grandma, Grandpa, Jesse and Megan came down to visit and brought us some sweet corn. YUM! Bailey really enjoyed her first sweet corn of this season. And thanks Grandpa for keeping us stocked up. Our neighbors are enjoying it too! :)

This past weekend we got to spend some time with Tallen, Kiera and Uncle Bud. Saturday we met them for some shopping and lunch with Grandma and Papa and then Sunday they got to spend most of the day with us and we went swimming. Today I took Bailey to get her haircut. I have trimmed her bangs a couple times but decided I didn't want to butcher the back of her hair since it doesn't grow very fast and was starting to resemble a mullet. Of course she had a blast at the kids salon. She got to sit in a little jeep and watch Dora while getting a haircut. Who wouldn't love that?!?!

We had a wonderful 4th of July weekend. Lots of time with family and special friends. Bailey got to watch her daddy, uncles and grandpa play baseball. Then we got to spend the 4th at the farm with fireworks (that B did not like) but she loved the company!

Bailey and I decided to make cupcakes one day. (There is an app on the iPad to make cupcakes which she loves) She did fairly well. Her favorite thing is to stir everything up and she did not like waiting for it to bake. Apparently the 10 seconds that it takes on the iPad is long enough :)

She had to try several different ones before we put frosting on them.

She kept sneaking more cupcakes! Little stinker!

We have gotten to see Lucas quite a bit the last few weeks. Jarod got some good smiles from him!

Uncle Daniel and Michelle now have a dog and the kids were having so much fun running after her. The dogs name is Dora and Bailey is pretty happy with that!

We had a great family day today! It started out as we were headed to the local farmers market, we noticed lots of people lined up on the side of the road. There turned out to be a festival and parade in the neighboring town so we made a stop for Bailey's first parade! It was a long one! It was at least 45 minutes to an hour long. Bailey got to see a few different bands play, firetrucks, lots of motorcycles and even some tractors!

Later in the day we made a trip to the festival. There was all kinds of food and drinks and even a dog show! That was really neat to watch and Bailey got a kick out of the the dogs doing back flips and jumping into the water.

Backyard adventures

We spent part of the evening in our backyard. Bailey loves to play on her swing, chase Harley and run through the rocks. Tonight we had a little more excitement. Mommy saw a snake! After a little screaming and jumping on the patio bench, daddy was able to track it down. Yeah! One less snake in our yard. :)

Bailey likes snakes. Probably because I say EWWW GROSS every time she says snakes but she LOVES looking at them when we visit pet stores. Daddy found a snake this weekend and wanted B to see one up close, not through a glass box. So he loaded it up in a Pringles can so she could check it out.

Bridal shower and more

We had a fun memorial weekend spending time with friends and family. I didn't get as many pictures as I would have liked but here is a few from Sunday. We had a bridal shower for my good friend Sara who is getting married late this summer. It was nice to see her and her fiancée and spend a little time with them! :)

Daddy and Uncle Daniel went fishing and brought home a few fish. Bailey wasn't quite sure about it but she did eventually touch the fish.

Bailey has a lot more rhythm than Jarod and I combined. She likes to "shake" her bottom and watch herself doing it!

It's pretty impressive. One of these days I'll post a video of it.

What a sweetheart! Grandma and Kiera taught Bailey how to put her hand over her heart to say the Pledge of Allegiance. Now she loves to sit on Papa and Grandma's porch doing this.

Weekend to remember

Bailey had a busy, fun-filled weekend. We started off on Friday morning by picking Uncle Logan up at the airport. Bailey was pretty excited to see him!

Then we went Uncle Jesse's regional track meet. He got 1st place so he is headed to State! And not only that, he got a personal record and set a new record at the high school. :)

On Saturday Jesse graduated from high school....with honors. Yep, we're pretty proud of him :)

On Sunday we played outside in our pajamas all morning. It was fantastic!

We had lunch with grandma, grandpa, Logan and Jesse then headed to the airport to drop off Logan. Bailey loves airplanes and now every time she sees one she says "Logan, sissipi" (Mississippi)

We have another busy weekend ahead of us with Memorial weekend. 5k walk, alumni get togethers, bridal shower and family time!

It hit 90 degrees today! Bailey and I ran out to get a sprinkler so we could play in the backyard and stay cool. Daddy got home just in time so he could play too! Bailey LOVES the water and I'm afraid she is going to wake up in the morning begging to go back outside. Thankfully the pools will open in a few weeks. :)

We spent today at Bailey's first Royal's game. It was a beautiful day and we were happy to spend it with Papa, Grandma, Sam, Amy and Lucas.

Daddy got out of work early yesterday so we all got to play at the park. Have I mentioned that Bailey LOVES to swing?!?!

We have been spending most our time outdoors lately. It is wonderful! Bailey loves to play outside, explore the yard, chase Harley and color on the driveway.

We were able to spend the weekend with our families for Easter. We had a wonderful time seeing everyone and celebrating Christ!

We started off the weekend by hanging out at the farm. Grandpa S took B on a tractor ride.

Then we all checked out Uncle Jesse's new motorcycle.

B and I then went and met up with some of mommy's friends. We got to hang out with Kelby. He's a pretty cute little guy, they are about a year apart but had a good time playing with each other.

We celebrated Easter with my family on Saturday. Papa got to read to most of the grandkids.

Bailey LOVES to go to the park. One of her favorite things to do at the park is to chase birds and squirrels. (Thanks Jarod) :) So far she has been really good and won't run too far from me and will always make sure I"m following close behind. Today she treed a squirrel and then chased several birds.

Museum

Bailey and I went to a children's museum this morning that isn't too far from our house. She had a blast. They had a Lego's room, a market room with produce, cows and chickens and several other fun exhibits for her to go through. I'm sure we will be there quite often next winter!

The weather finally warmed up by the end of Jarod's spring break. Bailey was loving spending all the time she could outdoors. I'm not sure how many tractor, 4-wheeler and gator rides she went on the last 2 days we were visiting the farm but she enjoyed every second of it. Before we left on Saturday Jarod got out the bubbles and B took off chasing them. She was truly enjoying herself and we couldn't stop smiling and laughing watching her.

I probably have 100 more pictures of her chasing the bubbles but these were some of my favorite. Now off to spend more time outdoors. It's 80 degrees with a slight breeze...one of the perks of living in the city, we don't get the crazy wind! :) Happy Sunday!

Spring Break

Jarod is on spring break this week. Too bad the weather decided it wanted to take a break from spring. Oh well. Bailey's learning how to give a thumbs up :) She was helping Grandma feed the cows this morning.

And we can't forget about this little guy. What a handsome little fella! We are enjoying spending some time with Lucas while we are visiting. And Sam and Amy ;)

A few things

Just a few things I wanted to share. Mainly for myself to remember.

Bailey will every now and then come up to me and say crying or sleeping. (usually she is telling me what her baby dolls are doing) Anyways we're on the way home from the store and B said "laughing". I asked her who was laughing. She answered "baby" I just said okay and then a few seconds later I was curious so I asked baby who?? Bailey answered...Lucas! I was shocked and she just went about talking to herself. Now we didn't talk too much about baby Lucas before he was born. I didn't think she would understand too well that there is a new baby cousin headed into the world but we mention his name every now and then. Apparently sometimes kids understand more than we think. So Amy and Sam, a few weeks ago baby Lucas was laughing ;)

Bailey can now count to ten! Actually she can make it to 12.... 11 and 12 thanks to a Dora episode.

We are working on abc's. I am impressed with how she is putting several letters together at a time. She has said A through J a few times without any help from us.

She is starting to put more words together and making little sentences. Mainly...no momma no. Harley get. Harley go potty. mommy come on. come here. And of course KSU WILDCATS! As we were leaving the house today Bailey wanted Harley to come with us on a ride. She said "Harley come too"

We are trying to work on colors. She was getting them for awhile but now she calls everything purple. :)

A couple of things she LOVES right now is Dora and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Oh my. Anything and everything that has to do with these. She walks around and will say mickey mouse clubhouse and hot dog.

Bailey got to go to her first livestock auction with Grandpa and Grandma S a couple days ago. It sounded like they had a blast and B got spoiled a little :) But isn't that what grandparents are for. If I heard right I think Grandpa had to buy another piece of pie because Bailey wouldn't stop eating his.

I decided to make a book out of our blog for the first year of Bailey's life. It turned out pretty good and I was able to find some deals to make it a little cheaper. While daddy was working nights this past week the days and evenings started to get long. I was searching for anything and everything to do with this little one in the house since she still had a yucky cough. I finally pulled out the camera one day and she wasn't too thrilled. Bailey and I decided to have a girls night since daddy has been working nights the last few nights and she is finally starting to feel better. What did we do? Went and got frozen yogurt at a new self serve shop that just opened. I have a feeling we may be frequent customers. It was YUMMY!

We had several visitors this past week and weekend. It was awesome! :)

Grandma K came down and hung out with us for an afternoon. It was a nice day so we got to play outside.

Then on Friday Grandma and Grandpa S and Uncle Jesse showed up for the evening.

I didn't really take any pictures and am regretting that.

Saturday Uncle Sam and Aunt Amy came for a weekend visit.

Sunday afternoon was beautiful here and we ended up in the backyard playing and swinging. Bailey was having a blast running around so I grabbed the camera to see if we could get any good pictures. Wow, it's been a long week!!! With the blizzard and then the FREEZING temperatures B and I were beginning to get tired of being in the house. For some reason B wasn't liking to color or play or do anything for more than 5 minutes...the life of a toddler.

Thankfully we had some visitors come down and it was decent weather so we got out a did a little shopping and had a girl's day out! Thanks mom, Amy and Michelle! B even took a 2 hour nap. She NEVER does that!

This last weekend Grandma and Grandpa S came down and helped us paint the ceiling in our house. We also got a couple walls painted so momma's happy that there is a little color in the house instead of just white walls :) Uncle Jesse and Megan also came down and helped watch B on Saturday which was WONDERFUL! We got a little more done since we weren't having to chase a 17 month old around!

I was hoping for a little snow, I guess I got my wish. So far I think there is at least 6 inches on the ground and it's still snowing! Luckily it's a pretty snow and the wind isn't blowing so we enjoyed the afternoon outside. Daddy got to join us today because the clinic he was supposed to work in closed since the schools shut down in the city. YAY!

Swimming

We decided to go swimming at an indoor water park on Saturday. Bailey was a little bit overwhelmed but I think she had fun. Her favorite part was lounging in the lazy river with us. She didn't want to attempt the little kids water slide but maybe next time.
